RYLEYS STORY Every year, thousands of Goldens are surrendered to local shelters and rescue groups when their families no longer want them. Those are the lucky ones. Hundreds more are discarded on the side of the road to fend for themselves or die trying. This was Ryley's plight and his new beginning at a second chance for life. On May 23, 2006, Ryley wandered into a womens backyard. Alone, and looking near death, she rushed him to the local Animal Hospital to see if they could save this Golden boys life. The Animal Hospital contacted Emerald Coast Golden Retriever Rescue INC. located in the Florida Panhandle to see if they would be willing to accept Ryley into their rescue and cover his medical cost if they could save him. Without hesitation the rescue volunteers told the hospital they would accept him and gave full permission to pursue any and all medical treatment regardless of cost. SAVE THIS GOLDEN BOY! With the help of a nation wide plea, donations began to come in to help cover his medical bills. Four weeks after being brought to the hospital, Ryley was released to the volunteers with the rescue and placed into a loving foster home where it will take another 5 months for him to continue with medical treatment for Heartworm, Mange, Neutering, ear and eye infections. Ryley is not the only Golden that ends up in this condition every year, but we hope to someday make him the last. Cruelty to animals, especially Golden Retrievers, is a nationwide epedemic that must stop. |
